Interaction Decreased

She walked up to the coffee department looking down at her phone and on the internet. She ordered the coffee then thanked the clerk and waited for her coffee order while looking down at her phone. She walked back to her department holding her coffee taking a few sips and in a hurry to get back to looking down on her phone. After work she went to the grocery store and looked down at her phone to retrieve her grocery list. To top it all off while in the grocery store line she was standing in line looking down at her phone and checking text messages and on the internet.

Does that sound familiar ? Well that is actually me ! Where has the human interaction gone? How many of us can relate to this ? We go thru the entire day and about 85% of free time is spent on LOOKING DOWN AT OUR PHONE. Geez what’s next ? We bump into someone accidently then type “excuse me” and hold up the phone as we pass by. What happened to the days of accidently bumping into someone and looking up, smiling and saying “excuse me.” Are the days of our human interaction gone and become dinosaur days?

We have become a population of people who prefer to take the phone and intenet way out. We are losing our human interaction. What makes us unique and being able to communicate with each other is being lost. Oh sure an emoji can display so many controlled emotions because our face might show an uncontrolled “whatever sigh” while an emoji can show a controlled happy face. However, what makes a human being unique and different from other species is being able to talk. We are taught how to talk as children. What would happen if as a child instead of being able to say “mama, daddy” a child was taught how to text and get on the internet. When was the last time instead of looking at your phone texting or looking on their facebook etc page … you actually looked a person in the eye and verbally said “hi how are you?”
